About The Institute
The Hyde Park Suzuki Institute was founded in 1998 to bring the joy of music and the expression of its richness to children through the teaching methods of those who have proven, through experience and research, the exceptional learning ability of the young child. Since then, the Institute has earned a reputation for excellence in the instruction of young children.
Parents are a vital part of this community, proving to be “Simply the Best. They, too, are students of the Institute, learning their child’s instrument in order to be the “home teacher.” The parent learns basic technique, musicianship, and theory.
The Hyde Park Suzuki Institute, Inc. is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, Music Teachers of Hyde Park, and the Chicago Community Music School Consortium. We are community partners with the Chicago Sinfonietta, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Hyde Park Youth Symphony, and Ravinia Festival. These relationships afford our students the opportunity to interact with the music community, attend professional concerts, and meet world-renowned musicians. This gives our students a broad perspective on music performance while encouraging musical achievement. We offer instruction in violin, cello, and piano for children aged 3 and up.
Located in the beautiful and historic lakefront community of Hyde Park near the University of Chicago, the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute’s relationship with the community of Hyde Park reflects our dedication to bringing music opportunities and events to the neighborhood. Participating in summer programming, opening our doors to all interested in our concerts, hiring students from the University of Chicago, Roosevelt University, Northeastern Illinois, VanderCook College of Music and partnering with other arts programs in the area, the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute nurtures and maintains close-knit relationships with all of those around us and throughout the area.
